Anti-Ragging Seminar
On 22nd August, 2024, our esteemed SDA College of Business Studies organized a seminar on Anti-Ragging to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and promote a culture of respect and harmony on campus. This event was part of the SDR Anti-Ragging Week, which aims to educate students about the importance of creating a safe and welcoming environment within educational institutions.
As part of the event, all students participated in a competition to create posters and paintings related to the anti-ragging theme. The results of this competition were announced during the seminar, held in Shalom Hall, where students from both college premises were present.
We were honoured to have distinguished guests and judges, including Mrs. Krishnaba Vaghela and Mr. Bhaumik Upadhyay, who evaluated the participants’ creative works. Prizes were awarded based on their judgments.
The seminar featured insightful speeches from our esteemed guests. Dr. Krishnaba Vaghela spoke about the dangers of ragging and its long-lasting impact on students. She also introduced the “Break the Ice Method,” a strategy designed to encourage students to get to know each other better and foster open communication on campus.
Dr. Bhaumik Upadhyay presented a PowerPoint on real-life ragging incidents, focusing particularly on cases from universities in Gujarat. He highlighted the severe consequences of ragging, including the risk of major depression among victims. Our respected President, Dr. G. Immanuel, was also present to support this important awareness event.
The seminar concluded with a lunch for all students, providing a chance for everyone to reflect on the day’s discussions. This seminar was a great initiative by SDA College to foster awareness and ensure the well-being of students on campus. This event was a significant step in raising awareness about the dangers of ragging and promoting a respectful campus environment. SDA College continues to lead by example in advocating for student welfare and fostering a positive, supportive academic atmosphere.
